At Saurbær has been horses for many years. The same family has lived in Saurbær for more than hundred years. Years ago horses were breed to help Eymundur's grandfather with farming. Horses were also used if people needed to travel over the winter time, when cars could not been used because of the snow. Horses have always been a part of the family and enjoyed the people.
In the year 2001 Eymundur gave up diary farming and focused more on his horses. The company Saurbær ehf. bought the first prize mare Gola frá Yzta-Gerði and a little later the stallion Kraftur frá Bringu. Today we have eight mares in our horse breeding, four of them have first prize. The breeding ambition is to breed horses with good temperament, beautiful conformation and good movements. Horses that are fun to ride!
